What is a File Sharing System?
A file sharing system is designed to serve multiple users (at organizational, team, group levels, etc.) to share data (documents, images, files, etc.) on a common platform. When file sharing is done via email or similar methods, issues with data size, updates, or versioning can be encountered. You can use file sharing systems to share files of any size in a synchronized manner, eliminating these problems.
File sharing systems can provide services through public or private clouds, or they can be hosted within corporate infrastructure. However, when users need to access data anytime and from anywhere, file sharing systems should preferably be provided through cloud infrastructure.
Each library can be synchronized with any desktop computer, including Windows, Mac, and Linux. Users can also quickly synchronize any folder of their choice.
You can access files through the mobile app. Both Android and iOS are supported. Cached files can be used off-line without a network connection.
Libraries and folders can be shared with users or groups with read-only or read-write permissions. Files can be shared with external users via sharing links. Link sharing can be protected with a password and supports setting an expiration date.
The file sharing system supports end-to-end encryption to protect your data; this is a unique feature rarely found in other solutions. All data transfer is protected by the HTTPS/TLS protocol.
It supports online editing and co-authoring for office files (including docx/pptx/xlsx) when integrated with Microsoft Office Online Server, OnlyOffice, or Collabora Online server. It also has built-in preview for videos, audio, PDFs, images, and text files.
The Drive client maps the storage space on its server as a virtual drive, allowing users to expand their local disk space with the enormous storage capacity on the sharing server. Users can instantly access all files without synchronizing. Files can also be used offline.
In today’s work environments, users need each document and file to be processed or viewed by different users for their jointly conducted projects and work. By using a file sharing system instead of traditional methods when carrying out collaborative work, you save time.
Especially with Cloud (public or private) file sharing systems, users can always access shared data from anywhere. When there isn’t access to the corporate network or personal computers, secure file sharing can still be carried out via the Cloud (using a web browser).
You can use the file sharing system from your tablet or mobile phone. Synchronization, one of the most important features of the file sharing system, and a mobile-friendly interface provide simultaneity and ease of use.
